Spring Gala & Symposium 2017

 

In designing this new event, we have reimagined what a Law Society event can be, one that is both enriching and entertaining. With your support, we think it’ll be one of the standout events in the legal calendar. The event takes place in two parts, which can be purchased separately or together.

1. The day begins with the Law Society Skillnet Symposium, which will feature speakers from around the world who will address our theme, Miscarriages of Justice. From Making a Murderer to Serial, this is a topic that is gaining a good deal of international focus right now.
2. Following a drinks reception at 7.30pm, the Law Society Spring Gala will take over the ballroom of the InterContinental Hotel for a black-tie dinner at 8pm where we will entertain clients and catch-up with colleagues. A high-profile, international, special guest speaker will mark a high point of the evening.

All profits from the Spring Gala will be donated to the Solicitors Benevolent Association, which assists members or former members of the solicitors’ profession in Ireland and their families who are in need.

Gala Dinner Speaker

Alastair Campbell will speak at the Spring Gala dinner and will address issues related to Brexit. Alastair is a writer, communicator and strategist; he is the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s spokesman, press secretary and director of communications and strategy.

Guests at the Spring Gala dinner will be warmly welcomed by our MC for the evening, solicitor, broadcaster and national treasure, Miriam O’Callaghan.

The Law Society Skillnet Symposium will take place on 24 March, 9:30 - 4:30, at the InterContinental Hotel. The theme for the day-long CPD event is “Miscarriages of Justice”. Five lawyers from around the world will address attendees on some of the most important and high-profile cases globally that demonstrate a miscarriage of justice.
